Tamao the Goddess

Phew, finally some time to rest!

Today's classes were all so hard. I could really use a break.

But I better prepare for the next classes.

Tamao! About the homework that's due today... Huh? Are you reading the textbook for the next class?

Yes. I was getting ready for the class and I thought I'd review the previous lesson.

Afterwards, I'll skim through the chapter we'll be covering today.

You're so serious about studying! That's so like you.

You know, Ichie, just because you're in the Performance Department it doesn't mean you can neglect your studies.

Uh... Yeah...

As a Rinmeikan student, you should rise to any challenge, tackling it head-on.

Our teachers are really good at explaining their subjects so that they're easy to understand. It'd be a waste to ignore them.

Your words are like sharp knives, stabbing my lazy heart!

...But I shouldn't be chiding a friend like this. I'm sorry. So, what did you want to ask me about?

Oh, right! There was something I didn't understand in the homework...

But after what you said, I think I'll just go and ask the teacher to explain it to me.

Heh. That's the spirit! But isn't that homework due by the next class?

...Uh oh!

In that case, I'll just help you with it now. Which part did you not understand?

Oh, Tamao-sama! You're my goddess! Um, this question here...

Yay, I did it! I get it now!

You should be okay solving problems of this type from now on, right? I'm glad you got it done in time.

Thanks a bunch! Next time I'll make sure to ask the teacher for help right away if I need to.

Heh, that's the way to do it!

Oops, the next class is starting. I've got to get back to my desk. I really owe you!

You're quite welcome.

Oh... I forgot about preparing for the class.

But Ichie's happy, so it's fine. It's all right once in a while!
Oldie but Goodie

Oh, hello. We've just decided which play we're going to do for the school performance.

It's a very traditional one called "Ghost Patrol Story".

I'll be playing a new member of the Ghost Patrol Squad.

It's an unusual role in a way, as the character starts seeing things he wasn't able to see before.

I have to make sure the transition to being able to see ghosts doesn't feel unnatural.

Do you know this play? It's almost a hundred years old and very well-loved!

There's so much history to it, and it's rooted in tradition. Our Performance Department will work hard to do it justice!

My ambition is to make it better than before... No, to have it win acclaim as the best in history!

Everyone in the department is putting their heart and soul into practice every day.

It's a difficult play, so Fumi is up in arms whenever she thinks anyone's slacking off. She's on Ichie's case in particular.

Even Yuyuko-chan is working hard without a word of complaint. She says she wants to include elements from rakugo storytelling.

When I think that maybe my grandmother also performed in "Ghost Patrol Story", I get extra motivated.

After deciding who gets which role, we all wished each other good luck.

Having friends working on something together with you is kind of reassuring.

I want to do my best so everyone in the audience will love this play.

That's why I will have to devote myself to practicing for it every day.

Sorry, but I have to go practice now. See you later!

Even when I'm doing something I truly believe in, sometimes I start having doubts. But that's when my friends come to my aid.

The character I'm playing butts heads with people, but those conflicts turn into mutual respect. They end up growing as people more than anyone else in this play.

I'm a bit jealous of my character's courage in facing others with honesty and openness. I'd like to be more like that with my friends.

Until I become strong enough to protect what I care about... I'd be happy if you kept watching over my progress!
