Kuina Moriyasu (森保 クイナ, Moriyasu Kuina) is a second-year student in Siegfeld Institute of Music's Junior High Department, introduced as a cast member of the stage play Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight -The LIVE Edel- Delight and implementated in Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight Re LIVE in summer 2022.
Class representative of Stella and the others' class. Works hard and always gets top grades. She respects the Edels, and idolizes Akira. Strives every day to become the future Frau Platin. She has known Minku since childhood, but disapproves of her carefree attitude.[2]

Appearance[]
Kuina has black hair with two strands of white on her bangs. She wears her hair back in a high ponytail. She has grey eyes.
School Uniform
Kuina’s school uniform consists of a cream colored blazer jacket with four golden buttons on its front and the Siegfeld school emblem on the left shoulder. The sleeve cuffs are black with a cream stripe in the center. She wears a dark grey sweater underneath the jacket and a white dress shirt underneath both of those. Around her neck is a purple ribbon tied into a bow with a red gemstone at its center. Her skirt is a pleated skirt with a black and grey tartan pattern. She wears white socks and black loafers.
Casual Outfit
Kuina wears a jean jacket with the cuffs rolled up over a white shirt. She wears a black skirt with no pleats and a belt.
Practice Outfit
Kuina's practice outfit consists of a navy blue leotard and white leggings. There is a gold pattern on the left side collar of the leotard. She wears a navy blue choker.
Revue Outfit
The top of Kuina's Revue outfit begins with a black shirt that extends past her waist with a triangular split in the middle and a forest green lining above the chest. It is covered by a white shirt with gold and green lining with an opening over the chest. She wears a brown harness that extends to the neck, fastening with a strap above and below the chest with gold buckles. She wears brown fingerless gloves with gold bands around the end of the finger holes. The gloves end at the wrist and connect with a brown strap over the top side of the arm to a brown cuff covered by a gold band, which then connects with another strap to another cuff further up the forearm.
The bottom consists of a green underskirt, a white skirt with a vertical split over each leg, and a waist cape which which falls with two big folds on each side, with a small split in the center at the back. The waist cape has gold lining, is white with two green stripes at the bottom on the outside, and black with two thin silver stripes at the bottom on the inside. Her boots are brown with black laces, black heels, and rounded gold toes with two notches in the gold. The boots are attached to cuffs around her calves by a strap on the outer side connecting from a gold piece to a gold ring on the strap.
She wears a gold-lined cape that wraps around the front of her left arm, is white and lined with two green stripes on the outside, and is green with two thin gold stripes at the bottom on the inside. The cape has gold epaulettes with fringe on the shoulders that are each attached to a gold clock by two ropes. The ends of two ropes with tassels dangle from the clock and the right shoulder, and there are also two ropes that wrap around the back of the cape to the epaulet on the right shoulder. The clock face has 12 golden gears, with a sparkle shape inside the gears at 3, 6, 9, 12, and a ring of green around the edge. The hands of the clock are pointing to the time 5:00 (17:00 in military time if PM).

Minku Umibe[]
Minku and Kuina grew up together in the mountains. They used to play together often, chasing weasels and climbing trees.[3] When they were children, they made a promise at Mt. Fuji to become the "best in the universe" at their respective disciplines--Minku as an idol, Kuina as a stage actress. After Minku gave up on being an idol, their relationship soured since Kuina resented Minku for giving up on her side of the promise and Minku didn't know how to confront Kuina about her newfound coldness. They resolve matters in Stage of Farewell - Die zwei ersten Sterne, where Minku promises to become the best stage actress and Kuina declares the two of them rivals.
Despite being very different people and having trouble with communication, Minku and Kuina are very close, with Minku often teasing Kuina. Minku admires Kuina's intensity as a performer but worries about Kuina's happiness as she aims for the position of Frau Platin. She wishes to stay close with Kuina and "keep experiencing Kuina's brilliance" forever, making her terrified of losing Kuina in any way. Kuina seems to be disapproving of Minku's easygoing attitude, but she admits that part of her wished Minku would have continued being an idol because she enjoyed supporting her as the one who "shone the brightest" in Sweet Pleats.
Akira Yukishiro[]
Kuina deeply respects the Edels, and especially reveres Akira, as her ultimate goal is to become Frau Platin like her. She is a huge fan of Akira, but is embarrassed by this and claims that she only considers Akira her goal, looking down on people who "idolize the Edels like they're some sort of pop band", despite Minku saying Kuina's the same way with Akira.[4] She made Minku practice having afternoon tea so she wouldn't embarrass her during an afternoon tea event with Shiori and Akira, and during the event, got so nervous in front of Akira that she couldn't think or breathe properly. She calls Akira "Akira-sama" to herself or around her peers, and calls her "Yukishiro-senpai" when she's around her or other upperclassmen.
Stella Takachiho[]
After Kuina witnesses Stella's performing skills and learns of her relation to the headmaster, she challenges her to become her rival. Stella is taken aback by this and wishes to refuse, but Shiro accepts the challenge for her.
Shiro Ogami[]
Kuina is the first of the junior high students to notice that something seems off about Shiro, and is quick to share it with Minku. She is suspicious of Shiro's abilities and suspects that Shiro may be more of a threat than Stella in her goal to become Frau Platin.
Ryoko Kobato[]
Kuina and Ryoko are not very close, but they are friendly with each other. After Ryoko gains more confidence through her Revue with Stella, Kuina notices her change and says that she underestimated her.

Etymology[]
- The name Kuina Moriyasu is based on the extinct red rail (モーリシャスクイナ, mōrishasu kuina).
- The given name Kuina (クイナ) means "rail" (bird).
- Kuina's surname Moriyasu means "forest" (森) (mori) and "protection" (保) (yasu).
Trivia[]
- She can do acrobatics.
- Her actress, Yuria Sato, had experience with acrobatics, having done baton twirling for over 10 years.
- The time on the clock on her Revue cape is 5:00, or 17:00. The red rail is thought to have gone extinct around 1700.
- Kuina's weapon is named 俯仰天地 (Fugyōtenchi), an idiom based on the Chinese philosopher Mencius' teachings in his book, Mencius.
- 俯仰天地 is commonly understood to convey the idea that one of the greatest pleasures in life is having the confidence and self-assurance to stand before anything without shame.[5]
- Kuina sometimes draws portraits of Akira in the corner of her notes.[6]
- Kuina loves the mascot Nikopen-chan and collects merchandise of it.
- This is likely derived from her actress Yuria Sato doing the same for the Suica penguin mascot.
- Kuina likes eating and making pickles (nukazuke), likely having learned how to do so from her grandmother.[7]
