QLeft.png A stoic Stage Girl who is tough on herself, as well as others. When she left Siegfeld, she stopped performing, but her encounter with Tamao and the other Rinmeikan girls led her to choose the stage once again. QRight.png

Listen to Kodan

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
I've been waiting for today. I can finally listen to "Taiheiki"...!

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
You sure are excited, Fumi-senpai.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
I've listened to a lot of stories from records and about the lives of commoners, but it's my first time to hear war stories live. Of course I'm excited.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Heh heh, you've gotten quite familiar with kodan.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
That's because it's interesting and anything that helps fuel my performance on stage is something I can't miss out on.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Especially when Rinmeikan tends to have a lot of plays that are compatible with traditional Japanese arts.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
When I played Shuten-doji in "Mt. Oe", your rakugo and kodan knowledge was really helpful.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Even if it's for the stage, I'm still happy you're so into it.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
I was able to make a rakugo friend all thanks to "Mt. Oe."

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Now that you mention it, that performance was what led to us going to a kodan.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
But I didn't get hooked into rakugo until afterward when you lent me "Oni couple of Sendai."

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
That's right. I lent it to you after you went to listen to "Mt. Oe", so that I could drag you into the rakugo hole...

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
But you rejected it at first because you knew "Mt. Oe" has nothing to do with oni.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
I'm sorry. At the time, I had my hands full with preparing for my role as Shuten-doji, so I wanted to stay focused.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Not at all, I understand completely.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
But after the performance, I asked to borrow it... After that, everything went as you had planned.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
"Yotsuya Kaidan", "Ako Gishiden", "Miyamoto Musashi", "Mito Komon", and "Ogi no Mato"... You're already familiar with a lot of the classics.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
"Yotsuya Kaidan" was very interesting. I've listened to it over and over again. Even though it's told in such a lively way, it was still scary.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
*sigh*

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Why are you sighing all of a sudden? Was I talking too much and ended up boring you?

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
No, that was a happy sigh! Being able to talk about kodan with someone is like a dream come true for me.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
I'm glad to hear that. Without you, I would never have gotten into kodan. Thank you.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
If only I had performed "Urashima Taro" with my current knowledge of it.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
What do you mean?

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Now I would appreciate your kodan-style narration even more. I've listened to a lot of kodan, but I really do enjoy yours.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Thank you for telling me that.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
How about we hold a rakugo performance? Like a re-do of "Urashima Taro's" kodan-style narration.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
And turn the dorm into an entertainment hall? Sounds fun. It's rare for you to make a suggestion like this, though.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Heh heh, I've been re-reading the "Urashima Taro" script in preparation for the Performance Festival interview.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
It made me want to do rakugo during the interview, so I've actually been practicing for it.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
So you want to show it to us first to gauge the reaction?

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
The arts is made for people to see. I figured it'd be better to polish it before the actual interview.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Sure, I look forward to it. We can get Tamao and the others to have a look too.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Please go easy on me.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Still, I'm relieved to hear you're properly preparing for the interview. I'll leave "Urashima Taro" to you.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
You can count on me. Even though Rinmeikan has a long history, we're the only ones who would arrange it like that. I'll make sure to talk about it.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Your narration definitely made it more original. "Urashima Taro" is also a favorite of mine.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
When it comes to originality, the Ryugu Dancer's dance you and Ichie-san did was something else.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
A unique masterpiece created from a fusion of Ichie-san's dance and your acting skills.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Yeah, we really practiced hard for that...

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Day after day, Ichie would show me video footage of idol concerts. The sea bream's part was inspired by this dance... The flounder's part took steps from this one... It was terrible.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
This is the first time I'm hearing this.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
She said the energetic idol choreography was a perfect match with the lively fish, so we had to include it.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Wow, that's Ichie-san for you.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
It may look silly at first glance, but the choreography was made to match the roles.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
But then footage of Ichie from her idol days managed to get mixed into it, so she might have been fooling around in the end...

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
That's a prank Ichie-san would definitely pull.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
That mischievous side of hers can be inconvenient, but you can't deny she's got talent when it comes to dancing and singing.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
She IS an ex-idol after all.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
When you think of it like that, life sure is unpredictable. You could very well have been an idol too.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
What are you even saying? That's so not my style.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
And don't mention anything like that to Ichie. You might end up giving her ideas.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Roger that. Oh, there's the entertainment hall.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Time just flew by during our chat.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Today's storyteller is my absolute favorite. I'm sure you'll love it. Let's go in!

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Let's. I can't wait to hear "Taiheiki".

Revived Stage Girls
After the Kodan

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
"Taiheiki" was amazing.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Right? Right?? It felt as if we'd gone back in time to the turbulent period of the Northern and Southern Courts.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
I agree. There was only one storyteller, but you can sense the chaos and tension of the war. I was on the edge of my seat.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Probably because I got to listen to this in person, but it felt different from the "Water Margin" you lent to me. It was really fun.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
"Water Margin" was like an individual's battle whereas "Taiheiki" felt like a group's battle. The intensity is different.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
You have good eyes for noticing that—Er, I mean good ears. There are a lot of variations even with war stories.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Yes, there are so many different styles.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
...Heh heh.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Hm? What is it? Is there something on my face? Is it the ghost of Takauji Ashikaga?

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
That's what's possessing you? No, that's not what I was laughing at.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
I was just thinking, going to an entertainment hall to listen to kodan would never have been something I'd have thought to do when I was in Siegfeld.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
I've really changed since coming to Rinmeikan.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
I see. That's true.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
I've watched Siegfeld's plays a few times and they're completely different from Rinmeikan.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Right? I've done so many things I never would've thought of when I was in Siegfeld.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
I was uncertain at first, but they all led to my growth and finding a new me...

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
And I assume you plan on talking about that kind of stuff at your interview?

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Heh, bingo. I thought about it a lot, but I think I'm going to talk about "Mt. Oe" and... Rui teaching me fight scenes.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
The rehearsals for "Tales of Onikurenai"?

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Yes. I've learned a lot since coming to Rinmeikan, but the technical skills I learned that left the biggest impact on me were the fight scene rehearsals with Rui.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
I still remember Rui's angry voice echoing out from the rehearsal room.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Rui held back at first, but because she definitely has better techniques when it comes to fight scenes, I asked her to be strict with me.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Rui's been doing kendo since she was young. Her mother really trained her hard. Still I didn't expect her to be THAT strict...

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
I'm sorry about that. Because you were also an Iga ninja like Benikage, you had to join the intensive training so you could match mine and Rui's fight scenes.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
That was seriously hell. She didn't go easy on me at all.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
I still remember how your legs turned to jello from muscle pain.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Fumi-senpai, that's not funny. I could barely even stand up.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
But I suppose thanks to that, we managed to finish "Tales of Onikurenai". So, I guess it turned out all right.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
You're right. If I left the conversation there, would it give off the wrong impression of Rui being a terrifying and cruel instructor?

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Hm, it's half true so I don't think you need to be gentle about it... If you're worried, how about focusing on Rui's growth?

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
I felt like Rui broke out of her shell in "Tales of Onikurenai" because she had to confront you.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
She stepped out from Tamao-senpai's shadow and started walking down the path as a Stage Girl of her own...

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
I think for Rui, that's the kind of stage "Tales of Onikurenai" was for her.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
I agree... It was my first time seeing Rui being serious like that.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Rui's grandmother also performed in "Tales of Onikurenai"... So you could also say it's a story that connects to Rui's starting point.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
And that became her reason for standing on stage. Not as someone else's shadow, but she blossomed into her own Onikage... That's what I kept thinking during my lessons with Rui.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
But I don't think hiding behind Tamao's shadow was necessarily a bad thing.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Because Rui also grew a lot by chasing after her.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Heh heh, Rui sure is lucky to be surrounded by such caring seniors.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
We're also your seniors.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Oops, you're right. Then can I ask a little favor from my senior?

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
I wanted to ask you for your advice on a script.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Heh, even though you said you didn't want to be seen working hard. You've changed too.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
I could say the same for you.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
When you first transferred to Rinmeikan, you always took a step back when it came to acting or the stage. But now it feels like you're facing the stage straight on.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
It's thanks to you guys. Tamao, Ichie, Rui, and you... Because all of you made me into this.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
And also the Stage Girls from other schools who we share the stage with. We're all influencing each other and growing together.

Yuyuko (icon).png Yuyuko:
Ooh, that's a nice line. I'll be using that in my interview.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
Stop making fun of your senpai!

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
We get to hear Yuyuko's "Urashima Taro" narration again. I can't wait.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
The Performance Festival interview is a good opportunity for us to look back on ourselves as Stage Girls.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
I once stepped off the stage and then got back once more at Rinmeikan... When I look back on it now, those were some difficult times.

Fumi (icon).png Fumi:
But in return, I was able to share even greater happiness and passion with the four of them. I plan on continuing to overcome all obstacles together with them to create a better stage.
